The event held annually in the Greater St. Louis Metro Area will occur this year on September 10th at Bolm-Schuhkraft City Park in Columbia, IL from 2:00pm-11:00pm. There are 6 bands lined up and if last year was any indication, they will be incredible crowd pleasers. The event starts off with ClusterPluck. Pluck is a local 4-piece band with an upbeat bluegrass, country, rock vibe sure to get every toe in the house tapping. The Dave Glover Band will follow with an all Beatles set to change up the genre. PettyCash Junction is up next and the name says it all, they cover Tom Petty and Johnny Cash tunes and have played over 100 gigs together in the area. Joe Dirt and The Dirty Boys will follow Junction with 70’s and 80’s rock covers. The Dirt set lists are wildly popular all over the city and will really turn up the crowd. The final two bands of the event are Where’s Charlie? And SuperJam. Where’s Charlie? is led by combat veteran and musician, Dustin Row. Row is the founder of the Songs 4 Soldiers organization and is on a mission to provide everyday assistance for American heroes. As a combat veteran himself, Row knows all too well the difficulties veterans face as they return from combat. The Songs 4 Soldiers benefit concert is one of the primary funding sources for the organization, 100% of the proceeds go directly to aiding and assisting combat veterans with daily activities and struggles. Row is incredibly passionate about veterans and music; you will not want to miss his show. Musically, the Where’s Charlie band has a groovy rock sound and upbeat vibe. The band clearly enjoy playing together and are good friends on and off the stage. They engage the audience using humor and skill, playing a guitar with a beer bottle, adding in fun hand clapping percussive song intros and just a real passion in their play and movement on the stage that you can feel as you watch. Their charm is alluring and the mission of Dustin’s organization makes you love them even more. The main event for the evening is SuperJam and they will bring ‘it’. This group was repeatedly voted best cover or tribute band in St. Louis over the last several years. They play Journey, STYX, Steve Miller Band and many more. They perform rock hits with skill and an entertainment factor that keeps the crowd singing along until the very last note. SuperJam is a talented band, definitely worth a donation to the cause. In addition to the incredible music lineup, there will be fun for everyone at the Songs 4 Soldiers benefit. A Kids Zone will feature bounce houses, rock climbing, balloons and interactive projects. Food, fun and most definitely worth the $10 suggested donation for admission. For more information, visit http://www.songs4soldiersstl.org.
