PENS PERSONAL STATEMENT ABOUT IMPENDING NINTH ALBUM AND EPIC RECORDS DEBUT, RATHER YOU THAN ME
(January 27, 2017 – New York, NY) – After steadily teasing its release all week on his social media, four-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum 21st century rap legend and Maybach Music Group mastermind Rick Ross shares his brand new single.
Following up 2016’s “Buy Back The Block” [feat. Gucci Mane & 2 Chainz], this is the first official single from his forthcoming ninth full-length album and anxiously awaited Epic Records debut, Rather You Than Me [MMG/Epic Records].
Excitement for “I Think She Like Me” has been building online throughout this past week. On Wednesday, Ross uncovered the single artwork via his Instagram which immediately ignited fans, causing a social media frenzy. Yesterday, he debuted a short clip from the music video, and his followers went wild. Now, he premieres the full video on VEVO. In the visual, he goes from kicking it by the pool at a ritzy waterfront Malibu estate to a sexy masquerade ball steeped in mystery. The song’s soulful production harks back to Teflon Don, while his inimitable gruff delivery carries impenetrable bars between a sultry and sizzling Ty Dolla $ign hook. There’s a lot to like about it!
At midnight, he penned a touching and honest statement about the last eleven years and the release of Rather You Than Me. “This album is more than just another project for me. It’s a product of strength, perseverance and determination. Rather You Than Me is a testimony,” going on to add, “I owed this to my supporters. Y’all that been rocking with me since we came out The Port of Miami. Without you none of this shit really means anything. Rather You Than Me...I hope y’all feel this.” Read the full piece HERE.
“Buy Back The Block” introduced the album with a bang. It already cracked 4 million Spotify streams and counting, while the cinematic music video notched over 11 million YouTube/VEVO views. Complex called it, “A big moment,” while Pitchfork, Spin, and others featured it.
“Untouchable” is the best way to describe Rick Ross’s decade-plus run at the top of rap. Along the way, he achieved five Billboard Top 200 #1 debuts and three #2 debuts, received four Grammy Award® nominations, graced the cover of Rolling Stone twice, and made history more than once. His debut single “Hustlin’” became the “first mastertone ever certified RIAA platinum before the associated album had been released.” He sold millions of singles and albums and cemented his status as one of rap’s biggest and brashest voices. Moreover, he founded Maybach Music Group home to Meek Mill, Wale, and more. Signing to Epic Records in 2016, his “untouchable” streak continues with the impending release of his ninth full-length Rather You Than Me.
