What do you get when you take 70 of the greater Dallas eateries, throw in some cooking competition and a culinary marketplace? The 29th annual Taste of Dallas, presented by Ford!
Every year the city gets an opportunity to ‘taste’ much of Dallas that they otherwise might not venture out to experience. Like many other cities across the US, the TOD gives local residents a chance to experience some of Dallas’ local fairs all in one centrally located area, Fair Park. The event takes place on a Friday through Sunday evening with fireworks Friday and Saturday. Food trucks, as well as local restaurants, sell their delicious fare. Like in much of Texas there was plenty of BBQ to be sampled as well as chicken, lamb, and even full-size pineapple drinks.
VIP tickets were available for purchase which provided event-goers the opportunity to get a little more intimate tasting of many area eateries. This ticket includes entry into Taste of Dallas as well as entry into Taste the Difference. THD featured tastings from area chefs, restaurants, and various spirit companies. You were given the opportunity to please your palate with a tour of various restaurants tasting some of their most popular menu items. And for your drinking pleasure, there were more than 150 craft beers, wine, and spirits provided for sampling as well as a tasty craft cocktail provided from the THD mixology bar.
TOD has is one of the most family friendly events put on by the city for the summer. Vendors are set up throughout the fairgrounds as well as in one of the air-conditioned halls giving you an opportunity to come in and cool off from the scorching heat. Kids enjoyed the Kid’s Zone as parents listened to tunes spun by TOD DJ on the Ford Main Stage. Make sure to plan TOD next summer with the entire family.
