Kofi Siriboe joins the all-star cast of Universal Film “Girl Trip”, alongside Queen Latifah, Regina Hall and Jada Pinkett Smith. Already deemed by Entertainment Weekly as a “sure to be heartthrob” industry insiders have the 22 year old young actor as one of the premiere sought after talents in Hollywood.
“I am extremely honored to be sharing the screen with award nominated and winning actresses like Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Regina Hall. This is both a dream and a childish crush come true. I look forward to embodying the vision that our director Malcolm D. Lee has for my character, says Siriboe.
Universal describes the comedy “Girl Trip” as four best friends journey to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, sisterhoods are rekindled and wild sides are rediscovered –along with plenty of dancing, drinking, brawling and romancing. Written by Kenya Barris (the creator of the hit comedy Black-ish) and Tracy Oliver. Malcolm D. Lee is directing the film, it will be produced by Will Packer via his Will Packer Productions, with James Lopez executive producing and Sara Scott is overseeing the project for Universal.
September will be a big month for rising star Siriboe. He plays the male supporting lead of “Flaco” in the upcoming urban coming of age film
“KICKS”. Andrew Barker from Variety says of Kofi’s performance …
“Yet the real cast standout is Siriboe, who takes what initially appears to be a stock thug character and keeps opening him up in surprising ways. Siriboe plays both sides of the character with deep commitment, “Kicks” may be Brandon’s story, but Flaco’s arc is the one that stays in your head when the credits roll”. The film is set to hit movie theaters nationwide on September 9th, 2016.
After seeing Kofi’s portrayal of “Flaco” in the upcoming Focus World film “KICKS”, critics are already predicting that his fresh face and magnetic presence on screen will send his star power sky rocketing soon.
Pegged as one-to-watch, Kofi can also be seen this fall in the highly anticipated television show “Queen Sugar”, originating the role of Ralph Angel, the youngest Bordelon sibling, formerly incarcerated young father in search of redemption and the challenges that come with re-entering society. The series premieres September 6th & 7th, and will then air Wednesdays at 10|9c on OWN. Ava Duvernay and Oprah Winfrey serve as executive producers of the show.
